Abstract:
This paper aims at filling the current fissure in the literature pertaining to the presence of Brazilian Portuguese in Massachusetts by 1) presenting historical and contemporary evidence of the prevalence of Portuguese language in the state of Massachusetts; 2) underscoring the need for systematic inquiry addressing the ethno-linguistic vitality of Brazilian Portuguese in this state; and 3) speculating about its future.
